Latest Telecom Technology Available to Clovis Businesses

Clovis , NM ( January 25, 2006 )--- The recent construction and installation of the latest fiber technology has been achieved by the local telecommunications company, Plateau.  According to Jeff Moore, Chief Operating Officer - Wireline, “Plateau invested over $5,000,000 to bury fiber optic cable in the main business corridors of Clovis . This initiative will provide businesses with both voice and high-speed data (Internet) connections at very competitive rates.  Existing phone numbers do not have to be changed and the real bonus is having local customer service with personalized account representation.”

The construction has taken over a year to lay the fiber in various sectors of the City.  By comparison, optical connections are unaffected by moisture as in the case with electrical services.  “A number of business subscribers now have super fast, high-speed Internet accommodated by the latest in switching technology located at the home-based company north of Clovis .  It is expected that the market will rapidly expand during the next few years.  Further, having this technology and advanced services available goes far in providing greater economic development potential for the area,” stated Moore .

Plateau Telecommunications, located in Clovis , is a subsidiary of the Eastern New Mexico Rural Telephone Cooperative.  There are 13 counties in eastern New Mexico and West Texas served by the company with retail locations, local agents, and sales representatives.
