Latest Technology to Provide Advantages for Clovis Businesses

CLOVIS , NM ( June 10, 2005 )--- Plateau Telecommunications has announced a major project that can enhance the use of technology in local businesses in the very near future.  After surveying the communication needs of over 1,000 business owners and managers in Clovis , $5.1 million has been committed for the construction of 60 route miles of fiber optic cable to local business (FTTB) sectors.  An aggressive construction timeline has been developed to complete the project, beginning in mid-summer and ending in early fall of 2005.

Primary business corridors in Clovis will soon receive fiber from the starting location at 600 N Main Street in Clovis .  Establishments located on Mabry Drive , Prince Street , Main Street, West 7 th Street, and West 21 st Street will be among the first beneficiaries of this opportunity.  Most construction and infrastructure development will be directional bore with very little ditching required to make fiber optic cable accessible.  Connections to businesses and technical support will be performed by local Plateau employees.  A simple, fast installation of a small box called a Network Interface Device is required for connectivity at the business location.

Advantages to local businesses will be the variable price plans that are highly competitive or less expensive than currently available through other providers.  The newest technology will be at the disposal of business owners including high-speed data connections and telephone (voice) service with traditional features such as voice-mail. Initially, subscriber installation fees will be waived.

According to Jeff Moore, COO for the Wireline Division of Plateau, “This technology has already been tried and proven in some locations in Clovis .  Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) projects have been completed in several new residential sub-divisions and customers have been eager to subscribe.  Also, fiber optic systems have been installed by Plateau in the City of Clovis offices and the Clovis Municipal School District with high levels of success.  It is our opinion that local businesses will experience comparable benefits and satisfaction when the project is completed later in the year.”
