Governor Appoints Local Businessman to State Economic Development Group
Clovis, NM (June 20, 2006) --- A recent appointment of local businessman, Raymond Mondragon, was made to the Economic Development Corporation known as the “New Mexico Partnership” by Governor Bill Richardson. Mondragon is among 7 regional business representatives who will serve in an advisory capacity to Governor Richardson and Cabinet Secretary Rick Homans to fulfill the role of the Partnership. The group’s purpose is to market the State in a business context and recruit companies for relocation in New Mexico. According to Economic Development Secretary Homans, “The Corporation is needed now because New Mexico is on a new playing field when it comes to its economic health and competitiveness.”
As the Area Manager for Economic Development for ENMR•Plateau and previously the Clovis City Manager, Mondragon has an extensive background to represent Region 4 that covers a large segment of eastern New Mexico. His interest in rural economic development and community outreach has already impacted several area communities. For example, his efforts to locate a new detention center in Clayton that will create about 200 new jobs are in keeping with the goals of the organization.
“Having the opportunity to serve the region in this capacity and to assist with the economic growth of New Mexico is very rewarding. It is an honor to have accepted the appointment by Governor Richardson and to be able to serve with other members of the Corporation Board including regional economic development officers and business people from across the State,” stated Mondragon.
